SPREADSHEET GUIDE · INVOICES AND ESTIMATES

A clearer invoice makes the next step easier.

Turn work performed into an invoice with itemized services, transparent amounts and payment instructions. Keep estimates separate from final invoices.

Invoice fields to double-check

  1. Business name and contact details, customer name and billing address.
  2. A unique invoice number, issue date, due date and any purchase order reference.
  3. Descriptions, quantities, rates, discounts and line-item totals.
  4. Subtotal, applicable tax and the final balance due.
  5. Payment methods, agreed payment terms and notes on refunds or deposits.

Example request to start with

“Make an editable Excel invoice with 15 line items, quantity × rate formulas, optional discount, optional tax, amount paid and remaining balance. Use my business details and leave tax rates blank for me to enter.”

Tax rules and required invoice disclosures vary by location and industry. Check the actual requirements for your business.
